Admiral Perry has just opened Japan's borders to the British, allowing the long-delayed process of globalization to begin. Unfortunately, one of the open ports is a humble Japanese town called Amihama, where a resistance group known as the "Disciples of Pragna" has taken up arms against the incoming aliens and all who support them. As a lone samurai who has just arrived amidst the chaos, it's up to you to decide whether to join Pragna's resistance forces, fight alongside the aliens in the name of progress, or take a stand somewhere in between by supporting the local government's attempts to quell the violence (by any means necessary).
