Need for Speed: Carbon is a racing video game developed by EA Canada and published by Electronic Arts. It was released on November 16, 2006 in the United States, on March 22, 2007 in Australia , and on March 23, 2007 in Europe for the PS3.
The game's story takes place several years before the events of "Need For Speed: Most Wanted," where the player competes in a race around Palmont against three others: Kenji , Angie, and Wolf, for a large sum of money. The race to the finish is disrupted by the city police, while the player is forced to flee the city, with the help of Tahmoh Penikett ( Darius ) , another street racer. The police arrest everyone who participated in the race, including the player's ex-girlfriend Nikki ( Emmanuelle Vaugier ); before leaving, the player hands over the bag containing the prize money, which actually contains paper. After his time in Rockport, the player returns to Palmont, but finds himself pursued along the road. The Valley is pursued by Nathan Cross (Dean McKenzie), a former Rockport police sergeant turned bounty hunter, who seeks revenge on the player for his misdeeds during his race against Rockport street racers . The chase culminates in the player wrecking his BMW in a construction zone. Before Cross can capture the player to collect his bounty, Darius arrives with his Stacked Deck crew and pays him off, before offering to help the player start over in Palmont.Nikki, who is now dating Darius due to her belief that the player is the one who set everyone up in the race to steal the prize money, reluctantly helps Darius by introducing him to two crew members who can help with the races and provide him with a safe place to work. Darius then advises the player to regain control of the various areas of Palmont City .
Each area is controlled by a large crew headed by one of the contestants they have competed with in the past, among a number of smaller crews. Kenji controls the city center with his crews Angie and Bushido, Kempton with 21st Street, and Wolf controls Fortuna with TFK . After defeating each crew leader , a former member of their crew defected and joined the player's crew, revealing their notes from the night the player was forced to leave Palmont City, hinting that something was amiss. Shortly after defeating all three crews, Darius called a meeting with the player. Upon attending the meeting, Darius reveals that he has been using the player to help his crew take control of the city, and betrays him to Cross to be captured. However, Nikki arrives to rescue the player, after making a secret deal with Cross. It was immediately revealed that Darius was responsible for the police disrupting the street race years ago. Not only did he inform them, but he also stopped the prize money and allowed the player to escape, setting him up as the culprit for the police bite. Nikki reconciles with the player and joins his crew. Darius soon discovers this, so he assigns the other chiefs to join his crew and fight the player's team while he seeks to take control of the Stacked Deck over Silverton. The player successfully defeats the crew, takes control of the town, and defeats Darius in the final race to take control of Palmont City and bring him to justice for his actions. Before leaving the city after handing over his car, Darius warns the player, saying, "Enjoy it while you "There's always someone who's a little faster than you, and sooner or later they'll catch up."
