Follow
the story of Theoderic von Ackenberg, a former Crusader knight who abandoned the war after becoming disoriented by its brutality. He is called back to action by events that began 15 years earlier when he and his former comrade-in-arms, Ulrich von Grevel, came across a broken piece of an ancient artifact—the Rod of Aaron. A young monk named Malcolm appears at Theoderic's door, bringing news that the Rod contains powers not intended for humans, and Ulrich has become obsessed with finding the remaining pieces and unifying the Rod, an event that could bring untold evil and suffering to the world.
Theoderic takes on the task of searching for the remaining pieces to prevent Ulrich from obtaining them and begins a journey that will take him across Europe and the Middle East. Along the way, he will meet many other warriors who decide to join the cause, from the old and veteran Reinhard von Kempten of the Teutonic Order to the ambitious young soldier Grimhild Eduard and her Raven Company. Each joins for different reasons, but they form bonds that hold them together through the trials and tribulations to come.Minimum
