Description: The plot of The Last Guardian is dedicated to the adventures of an unknown boy trying to get out of the ruins of a huge castle. During the game, he manages to make friends with a huge griffin-like creature named Trico, the second main character of the game. The name Triko can have several meanings and internal connotations: it could be related to the Japanese words 虜 (Japanese toriko, captive, prisoner), 鳥の子 (Japanese tori no ko, chick), or be a combination of the words 鳥 (Japanese tori, bird) and 猫 (Japanese neko, cat). In the 2009 trailer, Triko is wounded by spears and arrows while chained. He later appears free and tramples an armored guard. In screenshots released in conjunction with the game's announcement, the heroic boy attempts to sneak past the other guards without being noticed. Triko is initially hostile toward the boy, but over the course of the game, a deep affection is formed between the two characters. Developer Ueda has suggested the possibility of other creatures similar to Trico appearing in the game, but has not confirmed it.
