Marnie is a young Goth girl with a decidedly unflappable temperament. Her parents have gone off to spend a week of sun and surf in Bordeaux, and Marnie has been left in the care of her grandmother in the remote English village of Finchapple.
Marnie isn't looking forward to her week in this remote village. Finchapple is a small village with a population of less than 500, with no shops or cinema. Marnie is sure she'll inevitably get bored—and then there are her grandmother's constant pronouncements about fairies.
"Don't venture too far into the woods," warns her grandmother Iris. "There are strange creatures out there, and if they find you, they won't let you leave."
Of course, Marnie ignores her grandmother's warnings. Fairies don't exist, after all—and Finchapple is so small, what else can she do besides explore?Minimum
