Test of Courage is a first-person horror game set in an abandoned school setting. The school is called Bravewood Academy, and you play as Marco. Marco is a former graduate of Bravewood Academy along with his friends Ralph and Natalia. Shortly after your graduation, Natalia sent a letter and disappeared. One year later, Ralph discovered a hidden message within the letter. The only clue Natalia gave was a Test of Courage.
The Test of Courage is a challenge that requires the challenger to explore the school after school hours in search of 10 items while maintaining their sanity.
In the world of this game, history deviates from our own near the end of World War II. Thomas Crowder, a war journalist, discovered a new threat to humanity while documenting the consequences of the atomic bombs dropped on Japan. Monsters appeared near the ruins and were dubbed "Crowder Bofors." After the war, Bofors began appearing following the massive losses caused by humans. They never had the desire to venture beyond the area in which they appeared, and it was impossible for humans to reclaim the lost lands. Over the past few decades, the Boffers Crowder have been left alone. Scientists and experts have been sent to learn more about these creatures.
Bravewood Academy was the school Marco, Ralph, and Natalia all attended. It was a private school that had a program that allowed gifted students to attend the academy for free. At the end of each year, the administration would select two seniors from a special program that would send them to their dream university. However, students were spreading dangerous rumors beneath the school's glossy image. Mysterious creatures were spotted on campus after dark. After documenting the sightings, the creatures were identified as Boffers. Before the situation worsened, the school was shut down before anyone could spread that information.

Not everything you see is real; some Boffers' attacks are in your mind and will only diminish your sanity. Other attacks will be physical and will damage your health.
