Tesla Punk is a retro arcade shooter. It takes place in a Tesla Punk world (a steampunk offshoot) where all enemies and spacecraft operate at high voltage and occasionally explode in lightning. Each of the six levels features a different style, from artistic graphics to pure electricity to organic patterns. Punk combines elements of bullet hell and puzzle games. You play through the levels, dodging bullets and killing enemies with a laser or a burst shot. As a special feature, you have "Voltage Burst," a special laser mode that cancels all bullets and gives you a powerful laser for a limited time.
Cancelling bullets raises your score multiplier and, consequently, points. The multiplier is also tied to a ranking system, thus dynamically increasing difficulty.
The game is entirely time-based and was developed with a special sequence editor. This perfectly coordinates the gameplay with the music, giving the player a fun flow. The boss modes synchronized with the music are another highlight.
As an additional game mode, there's Survival Mode, where you must fight off endless waves of attacks, collecting coins and power-ups along the way. Coins can be spent at Teslamart to upgrade your ship and purchase additional items. The goal is to survive as long as possible.
Additionally, Tesla Bank contains Arcade Mode missions and unlockable gallery images.
Story-wise, you play as Nikola Tesla to fight an invasion against an evil Martian emperor. The Martian leader has his own TV channel on the side of the screen and comments on your battle against the invasion. He will also be the boss of the final level. Minimum
