Steep was the first original standalone game developed by Ubisoft Annecy. The game takes place in the heart of the Alps, where players are invited to participate in various winter sports, as well as extreme sports. Players have access to activities such as skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, and wingsuit flying. With subsequent updates, mountainous locations in Alaska, Japan, and Korea became available. Additional sports included rocket-powered wingsuit flying, snowboarding, base jumping, and speed riding. Two expansions for the game allowed players to participate in the Winter X Games and the 2018 Winter Olympics.
