When we think of "sniper" in most non-specific first-person shooters these days, the "real gamers" in the Call of Duty clips that seem to be circulating the internet these days probably come to mind. Sniper: Ghost Warrior, released by Polish company City Interactive Games in 2010 and now five years old, remains the epitome of sniper simulation.
The battle mode has you playing as one of three different characters. The "main" character in the team is Sergeant Tyler "Riser Six-Four" Wells, a special ops sniper sent to the fictional island of Isla Trueno, which has been overrun by extremist forces. It's a nice change to not have the large American forces on the Russians' back for once. Your first mission is to attempt to assassinate the general of the rebel government against the islands' government: General Vasquez.
