Members of the Emergency Traders' Alliance adopt a policy of isolationism, focusing on strengthening defenses to survive the rest of the war. Those rebelling against the Alliance adopt a purely military viewpoint, coming to the view that the only way to achieve peace is to crush all who oppose them—especially the aliens.
For the first time in their history, the war is creating a split in Advent unity. The Loyal seek to continue their policy of revenge against the Traders and to bring everyone under the unity's influence. However, some other Adventists suspect that a corrupting influence from within has diverted the unity from its rightful destiny.
The schism that has occurred in the Vasari Empire is less pronounced, but equally severe for their people. As the Vasari rush to a new space with near-hysteria, the loyalist faction abandons cooperation and decides to take the resources they need by any means necessary.
