Mikoto is a fox girl who lives deep in the forest, in a settlement filled with fox girls called Yamatai. Mikoto's mother, Himiko, is the leader of these fox girls and possesses formidable magical powers.
As the daughter of a famous woman, Mikoto is expected to train hard and one day take her mother's place—but there's a problem. Mikoto is a complete failure as a fox girl!
Despite being 25 years old, Mikoto only has one tail. She stumbles with even the simplest spells, and her hand-to-hand combat skills are ridiculous. She regularly loses mock battles against her teacher, Ohana, and the other fox girls in her clan shun and mock her for her incompetence.
Unhappy with her ordinary life in Yamatai, Mikoto dreams of leaving home and talking to the humans who live in the nearby Warren Village. Mikoto has heard that humans are evil and cannot be trusted, but Mikoto is naturally optimistic, certain that humans cannot be as bad as the stories say.
And so, one dark night, Mikoto runs away from home to attend the annual harvest festival at Warren Village. There, she meets a beautiful knight named Juni and is irreparably attracted to her. A passionate, deep relationship quickly blossoms between the pair...
but fox girls like Mikoto are not welcome among humans, and Ohana is determined to win back her runaway pupil, no matter the cost.
