: The Beginning is a short, hand-drawn, 2D role-playing game that follows a group of adventurers as they embark on a journey that takes them across the continent of Shen.
When the giant crystal meteor was shattered, 9 large pieces remained. These shards crashed into the planet and permanently gifted the planet with elemental energies: Ice, Water, Fire, Thunderbolt, Earth, Wind, Plasma, Darkness, and Light. Each element has its own strengths and weaknesses against the others.
Choose from 6 different Hero Classes: Fighter, Explorer, Mage, Thief, Fool, and Dancer; each class has unique stat growth, its own skill sets, as well as its own weapon and armor styles. Choose your character, your element, and even your favorite food! Choose a name for yourself, and let's begin!!! Players can expect 18+ hours of gameplay depending on your chosen class and elemental mastery.
The story begins with the last wild training trial and quickly descends into mystery when the party finds a strange orb. A simple beginning quest turns into a giant adventure that exposes corruption and is filled with heroism! Find all your destined friends and unravel the secrets of the crystal shards! With 9 farms to conquer, filled with over 40 monsters and bosses, you'll need the best items and magic money can buy! No items or magic? Don't worry, Shen is home to 7 proud cities and towns, ready to satisfy your adventuring needs. Did we mention treasure? Not only is there treasure, but there are hidden treasures and secrets aplenty to aid your journey.
Rathe offers traditional turn-based combat. You'll command a team of up to 11 people, leading up to 4 heroes against a horde of monsters, bandits, and mutants! Enter battle at a disadvantage or taking heavy damage, and you can swap teammates mid-battle; as long as you have combat-ready teammates. Augment your heroes' stats with their skill grid. Blast your opponents with over 250 powerful elemental spells and unique class skills! Master the elements to maintain the edge in battle and dispense swift justice! But be warned, when the front team of 4 is wiped out, it's game over, so keep your heroes healthy!
