Rampage is a series of video games released by Midway for various consoles. The basic premise of the series is that the player controls a human who has been transformed into a giant monster due to a laboratory accident. Gameplay revolves around using your monster to destroy cities around the world while attacking or evading military forces. Rampage is an arcade game released in 1986 by Bally Midway. Players control giant monsters trying to survive against attacks from military forces. Each round is completed when a given city is completely destroyed. Rampage 2: World Tour is a video game released in 1999 and is the third game in the Rampage series. They say lightning never strikes twice, but apparently that old adage doesn't apply to the good people at Scumlabs International. The unfortunate incident with George, Lizzie, and Ralph was supposed to change the way the chemical company conducts business forever, but there was another "accident." Now the world must deal with the wrath of three new monsters, and they won't stop until they find their monster friends for an all-out "duel" of epic proportions! George, Lizzie, and Ralph have been captured for the world to see. George is being held in New York, Lizzie in Tokyo, and Ralph in London. Scumlabs, which has rebuilt its facilities in Salt Lake City, causes another accident that spawns three new monsters, so you must control one of the new monsters to free your friends. Players can choose from a lobster named Robbie, a unicorn named Boris, and a giant rat named Curtis. When the player (literally) unlocks Ralph, Lizzie, or George, they become playable characters. Once all the monsters are rescued, aliens begin an invasion of Earth, leaving the monsters as the only ones capable of saving the planet they helped partially destroy. After repelling the invasion on Earth, the monsters rescue Myokos (a Cyclops-like alien) from Area 51 before chasing the aliens through space, destroying alien bases throughout the solar system and ultimately destroying their home. The object of the game is simply to stomp, punch, and kick everything in sight while attempting to destroy a two-dimensional city. Hostile threats include members of the armed forces, who will fire bullets, explosives, and missiles at you on the ground and in the air. To clear a level, you'll have to completely destroy all buildings within the city. To do this, each monster can punch the building while climbing it or repeatedly jump onto the roof until it collapses. Pay attention to open windows, which can contain a variety of power-ups and food. Be careful, though, as there may be a hazard that could cause your monster to vomit uncontrollably! After clearing a stage, a damage report will appear with statistics in the following three areas: building destruction, vehicle destruction, and human consumption or destruction. The more you destroy, the higher your damage report ratings will be! Rampage 2: World Tour allows you to compare these totals with up to other players (with the Multi-Tap accessory), and monster fans can also continue the "tour" using a single block of memory card space. Other features include multiple difficulty levels, the ability to share lives with friends, and the option to damage other monsters with your attacks.
