In the future, factions of opportunity and ideologies have emerged independent of governments. Private corporations and religious movements have started wars over greed, ideology, and power. Many have died and many lands have been lost. Planet Earth has been depleted, and colonization attempts on other planetary bodies have been futile.
Finally, after decades of exploration, an interstellar spacecraft brought the promise of a new world many light-years away. The most powerful factions gathered their best men and women to send them on a long voyage to Pandora.
Far from being devastated, the Earth-like planet was found to contain a diverse array of indigenous organisms. While the giant monsters inland and in the oceans seem relatively peaceful, human-sized insects and fungi threaten to halt humanity's expansion.
As the various factions strive for dominance, each will research and develop numerous new technologies, discover new weapons and industries, and open trade agreements and forge alliances with other factions to gain a foothold. As they spread out, they will discover ancient ruins of alien civilizations that will give them an advantage over their competitors. Minimum
