Choose your crew, name them after your friends, and watch them die! Heroically! Or, you know, maybe they'll survive. Anything can happen!
Lots of random encounters, each with a variety of choices and outcomes. Chances are you'll never encounter the same thing twice! That could happen, though.
Faraway quests! Send an officer (with some of your sacrificial Red Men) into battle. The rewards are great, but so are the risks...
Manage your resources carefully: food, fuel, hull, and your Red Men. Curse loudly as they're whittled down.
Play to your strengths! Each commander and officer offers different bonuses to increase your chances of success.
Surrender to the chaos of the probability engine. You can rely on your crew's abilities, but there are no guarantees in space.
