The 1980s. The golden age of 8-bit video games. We'd drop out of school and spend our precious coins at the arcade machines.
One machine that caught my attention personally was Atari's Asteroids. How could something so simple be so addictive? How could they simulate the physics of those little white trilobites on a black background like that?
Asteroids was as simple as it gets. A simple black background, a white trilobite, and shapes representing asteroids, which were destroyed when we shot the white dots from our trilobite, which was our ship. The imagination did the rest. The motion difference effect was truly amazing for that era.Minimum
