The action figure series focuses on McFarlane's distinctive vision of such classic monsters as Dracula, Frankenstein, the Mummy, the Werewolf, the Phantom of the Opera, the Sea Creature, and the Pumpkin of Notre Dame. The game is played from a third-person perspective, with one or more players seeking out evil creatures as one of a group of Monster Hunters, also designed by McFarlane specifically for the game. To save the world from certain disaster, players will wield swords, cast magical spells, and utilize a variety of 19th-century weapons to exploit a specific monster's weakness. The environments players will encounter are based on each creature's natural habitat, including tropical forests, deserts, swamps, and more. Monster Hunters come equipped with their own special attacks, as well as specific strengths and weaknesses. Armed with an arsenal of deadly moves, deciding which attack to use in a given situation becomes a challenge. The hunting party will also encounter intelligent monsters with their own combat strategies as they progress through the adventure. As a result, monster battles become an intuitive, intense, team-based experience that is both exciting and fun.
