MARDEK
is a retro-inspired RPG set in a background-heavy world that blends fantasy and science fiction. Its initially lighthearted story evolves into a deeper exploration of moral ambiguity, with plenty of thought-provoking and exaggeratedly silly dialogue. Build your party from a wide array of distinct characters, each with their own unique backstories, personalities, and skills, as you traverse vast racial dungeons filled with swarms of monsters, loads of equippable treasure, and massive and dramatic bosses.
The story follows an ordinary young man named Mardek, whose dreams of adventure begin to come true when he finds himself sharing his mind with the consciousness of a dead alien sorcerer named Rohoff. Three chapters follow Mardek's growth from his invented childhood, through his eventful training as a royal guard, and finally to his duties as a fully-fledged royal knight. Along the way, Mardek and his allies encounter members of a sinister council of Rohoff's alien allies, who Rohoff—being the being of light and good that he appears to be—claims are evil and must be stopped.
