In your weakness and confusion, your guardian—Gulbrand—tells you a tale of hope, a way to purify the world through the extraordinary towers and resources that wait beyond the realms.
Desperate for answers, you leave Gulbrand in charge of your kingdom to journey to the other six kingdoms of Lyra and reopen the towers; whether the other kings want you to or not.
You succeed in your quest, and as the last tower is reopened... something is amiss. The world begins to crumble, the skies darken, and the seas dry up. In the aftermath of your actions, you find yourself caught in the middle of a world in decline, your only thought being worry, as you head onward to return to your kingdom.
The return takes you three years.
