iGuide Knossos aims to enhance the user experience as a "digital" visitor to archaeological sites and monuments. By reconstructing a 3D representation of the monument based on Arthur Evans' drawings and sketches, the visitor is offered a first-person navigation experience of the monument's original form from anywhere and at any time. The user is given the option of an alternative guided tour that includes, in addition to narration, animations and educational games.
The themes of the tour's illustrations are based on (a) social, such as the daily life of the monument's inhabitants; (b) historical, such as construction, demolition, or excavations; and (c) mythological elements.
iGuide Knossos seeks to create a digital cultural reference point by expanding our cultural assets to a global audience of diverse interests and ages. It combines entertainment and education in an easy and enjoyable way for a wide audience of visitors while developing a detailed tool for researchers.Minimum
