Free Tank Battles (GTB) is a unique blend of tower defense, strategy, simulation, and RTS. Set in an alternate timeline where World War I never ended, you are the commander of the Allied forces fighting until the year 2114, using mechs and lasers alongside tanks and guns. The war continues across Europe, with the Allied commanders still adhering to the optimistic patriotism of the 1900s.
Tower defense games where you can play as an attacker have been made before, but GTB lets you play on the same maps as either an attacker or a defender, and even lets you save your attack as a record of defending against it. An online challenge system lets you upload your custom maps, custom units, and attacks to compete against other players. Speaking of custom units, GTB doesn't feature simple pre-built units, but rather allows you to build them from individual components, even customizing the appearance and colors of each unit. The unlocking system gradually reveals more units, abilities, and unit "structures" for you to experiment with.
