The story revolves around Niko Bellic , a man living in Eastern Europe who is a dangerous criminal and faces problems that force him to leave his country. He has a cousin named Roman, who moved to New York while Niko Bellic stayed in his country. After a while, problems began to befall Roman in New York, as he began to accumulate debts and was threatened by gangs. Roman emailed his cousin Niko Bellic, claiming to live in New York City like a millionaire, owning 14 sports cars, girls, and hot tubs. Bellic traveled to his cousin Roman to live with him, but upon arriving in New York, he discovered that his cousin Roman had lied to him. He had nothing at all except a taxi depot that earned him a small fortune. So, Bellic teamed up with his cousin Roman to get him out of trouble and get back to their normal lives. He also entered into a gang war.
