Trapped in the past after revolution and decades of foreign economic sanctions and blockades, the nation was frozen in time, forcing its people to find new ways to adapt.
The game takes place on the fictional Caribbean island of Yara, which closely resembles Cuba. "President" Anton Castillo (Giancarlo Esposito) runs the island, a fascist dictator with complete control. The player takes on the role of a local officer named Danny Rojas, a former officer in the armed forces. The player can choose the character's gender at the beginning of the game.
