Description: Cain Morgan is the adopted son of the head of the security forces of the Kingdom of Hingaria. One day, Cain has a strange dream that brings back memories of his childhood, when his homeland of Solsia was invaded by the neighboring country of Aldina. All he remembers is that "everyone went to the island." The mysterious Island of No Return is currently of great interest to the king, who is trying to find out why the Elders sent a research team there. Rumor has it that there is a ring with unseen powers on the island, and the king secretly sends Cain to find out the fate of the missing explorers.
Eternal Ring is a first-person role-playing game similar to the King's Field series. It focuses on exploring interconnected dungeons and fighting their inhabitants. Compared to the King's Field games, the world of Eternal Ring is smaller and less open. With a few exceptions, the only weapon type Kain can use is swords. However, weapons play a relatively minor role in the game, and armor is also absent. Gameplay relies heavily on magic spells, which the player can obtain by wearing special rings and equipping them with gems.
Spells and the gems they contain come in six different elements: fire, water, earth, wind, light, and darkness. The player creates rings by experimenting with different types of gems, resulting in different effects. They also have different levels that affect the outcome of the experiment. The resulting rings can change Kain's attributes, increase his affinity for a particular element, provide additional bonuses, or grant Kain powerful attack spells.
Additional Information: The US PS Store has an official version of the game in the PS2 Classics category. I couldn't find the transcript, so I converted the game myself. This particular isoshnik differs from others in that it has Japanese voice acting (the game is Japanese) and weighs only 515 MB. As far as I remember, the packaging for the European and American versions was definitely heavier. Since Eternal Ring is well-emulated and sold in the store, there shouldn't be any serious technical issues. But if you do come across something, be sure to write it down.
