As a 6-year-old boy, El Hijo must constantly sneak through the dangers of his world. As he overcomes his challenges, he gains confidence, cunning, and with them, more plans to outsmart his enemies. On his journey, he will find himself in a remote monastery, a harsh and unforgiving desert area, and a frontier town filled with crime and evil.
The journey begins when a rancher and her son, El Hijo, are attacked by bandits who are destroying their ranch. El Hijo's mother decides to leave El Hijo in an isolated monastery for his protection. However, El Hijo decides that monastic life is not for him and decides to escape. El Hijo - A Wild West Tale is a non-violent stealth game. Violence is replaced by mischief and the mischievous play of a young child. Playing with shadows is the essence of the game, and El Hijo will often have to hide. Without the need to add unnecessary new mechanics, gameplay expands naturally, with changes to existing mechanics gradually being introduced and then combined to increase the challenge.
