Dragon Age: Inquisition takes the player back to the world of Thedas, which, after the events of the previous two games, has been plunged into chaos. The events begin 10 years after the end of Dragon Age: Origins. The kingdom of Ferelden has been unable to fully recover its power after the invasion of dark beings (the Scourge), which was the central theme of Origins, and Orlai is embroiled in a civil war. Meanwhile, mages and knights are fighting across the continent. Amid this chaos, a rupture has been created in the border between the realm of the dead and the Vid, leading to a daemon invasion.
