Description: Doom takes place in a science fiction setting using horror movie techniques. The plot is revealed in the user manual and in the game itself with the help of text inserted between episodes.


The player takes on the role of an unnamed alien soldier. The creators explain the lack of a name for the protagonist by saying that this will make it easier for the player to relate to the character. The main character was exiled to Mars after attacking an officer who gave the order to open fire on civilians. He is under guard while his partners deal with a mysterious incident that occurred on Phobos at the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC). Suddenly, the main character loses contact with his partners, gets away from security, and goes to search for the team. It was later learned that the company's teleportation experiments had failed, and that hellish creatures had climbed through the portals that had been standing on Phobos even before humans appeared, killing people or turning them into zombies. All that remained for the main character to do was find at least one member of his team and escape this hell.
