Description: In 2015, a group of Resident Evil fans decided to make a remaster of the second part and called it Resident Evil 2 Reborn. The guys even released a trailer in which they showed the huge potential of the beloved sequel. Soon, Capcom officially called a halt to development and then announced Resident Evil 2 Remake. Some believe that the studio was already considering a remake, but didn't dare, and the players' interest in a fan remake pushed them to work. Others' opinions go further: Capcom didn't even consider a complete remaster until they saw Resident Evil 2 Reborn, and then decided to release an official, remastered version of their game.
But fans, cut off by the Japanese, didn't despair and used the developments to create a full-fledged game in the spirit of the original, but on Unreal Engine 4. This is how Daymare 1998 was born. Shortly after, enthusiasts founded their own studio, Invader Games, raised funds on Kickstarter, and hired Satoshi Nakai, the designer of Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero, as an assistant. In the new game, he was responsible for creating the monsters. The game was produced by Kazuhiro Aoyama, one of the writers of the original Resident Evil and the head of development for Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.
