: Combat Mission Black Sea is a military simulation that depicts a fictional series of escalations between Russia and Ukraine leading to open conflict in the summer of 2017. As Russian forces advance into Ukrainian territory, the Ukrainians do their best to defend their country against a superior enemy in numbers and technology. The events surrounding the invasion lead NATO to quickly deploy its advance forces to check the Russian advance. A brutal scenario, to be sure, but it gives you a glimpse into what modern-day tactical near-peer warfare entails.

At your disposal are detailed and researched American, Ukrainian, and Russian units drawn from combined brigade types such as mechanized, armored, Stryker, and armored divisions, among others. They include all the capabilities one would expect in the modern arena, such as active protection systems that repel incoming attacks, drones that hover around the combat space and relay valuable information, and precision-guided munitions that hit their target in a single hit. Well, as long as the enemy's electronic warfare attempts fail, otherwise you may find that your carefully tuned combat machine is no longer tuned.
