Information:
This is the first chapter in the latest installment of the When They Cry visual novel series produced by Ryuukishi07. It features higher-resolution graphics and more detailed animation, new songs created by several Umineko composers, and several new additions. The Steam version can be played in both English and Japanese.
Story:
Although the world was almost destroyed during World War III, it was saved from nuclear decommissioning by advanced technology. One hundred years later, this eventually led to the emergence of a new, advanced military technology, the Gauntlet, which fascinated children all over the world. In this new era, all currently existing military forces will be rendered obsolete, except for the small number of boys and girls who have what it takes to become a Gauntlet Knight...
The young men are supposed to be the main characters of their respective eras. But in reality, they are merely playing pieces arranged on the board for those who are more resourceful and more experienced. Should these boys and girls be forced to kill each other as pieces? Who are the pieces, who are the players? And who commands the players? What are each person's winning conditions? Is it peace? War? Annihilation? Is the predicted catastrophe a conspiracy or an illusion, the future or reality?
There's no need to resist this catastrophe. The action of a playing piece is to dance in the hands of catastrophe.
What are the rules of the game, you ask? How difficult should it be? That's up to us to decide, so it's none of your business. All you need to do is take the pieces and yourself, entertaining us with the breadth of your emotions.
