Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is an action, war , combat, first-person shooter video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It was released on November 5, 2007 in North America, November 7, 2007 in Australia, November 9, 2007 in Europe, and December 27, 2007 and September 10, 2009 in Japan.
The game's story takes place in 2011, when a civil war erupts in Russia between the government and nationalist extremists seeking to restore Russia to the glory of the Soviet era. At the same time, a separatist group led by Khaled al-Assad seizes power in an unnamed (small but oil-rich) Middle Eastern country through a military coup. Khaled al-Assad is a ruthless man with anti-Western views , prompting the United States to invade the country. On the afternoon of the second day of the invasion, a group of US Marines is sent to capture Khaled al-Assad. The group attacks a television station from which Khaled al-Assad is believed to be broadcasting live, and then engages in street fighting in an unnamed city south of the capital. Meanwhile, a squad of British Special Air Service (SAS) commanded by veteran Captain Price carries out two major operations: one aboard a ship in the Bering Strait and the other in Russia. Intelligence gathered from both missions indicates that Khaled al-Assad may possess a Russian nuclear weapon. On the evening of the third day, the United States launches a large-scale attack on Khaled al- Assad's presidential palace , despite warnings from British forces of the potential presence of a nuclear device. As US forces invade the palace, Marines engage Khaled al-Assad's forces. However, the attack ends in a great disaster when the nuclear device suddenly explodes, causing most of the city and everyone in it to disappear. Unconvinced that "Khaled Al-Assad" has been killed, "Veteran Captain Price" and his team, supported by a group of Russian loyalists, attack a safe house in a village in Azerbaijan with the aim of eradicating the occupying Russian forces. In the process, "Khaled Al-Assad" is captured alive.After a short period of interrogation, Khaled Al-Assad's phone rings, and after hearing the caller's voice, the veteran Captain Price immediately executes Khaled Al-Assad. The caller is revealed to be the leader of the nationalist extremists , Imran Zakaev. Veteran Captain Price
recounts a mission to Pripyat, Ukraine, in 1996. In the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster and the collapse of the Soviet Union , Imran Zakaev exploited the chaos to profit from the proliferation of nuclear weapons and used his newfound wealth to lure soldiers from the Soviet army to form his nationalist party. Veteran Captain Price and MacMillan were sent on a covert operation to assassinate Imran Zakaev. During the operation, veteran Captain Price shoots Imran Zakhaev with a sniper rifle, but the bullet only hits Imran Zakhaev's arm. Veteran Captain Price and his team of Imran Zakhaev's followers barely survive . A joint force of Special Air Service, Marines, and Russian loyalists attempts to capture Imran Zakhaev's son, Victor Zakhaev , in order to find out his father's location. However, once they corner him on the roof of a building, Victor Zakhaev kills himself. In order to take revenge, Imran Zakaev launches intercontinental ballistic missiles at the east coast of the United States, which could kill 41 million people. However, the joint force manages to seize the missile control room and destroys it over the Atlantic Ocean. A helicopter belonging to the nationalist extremists destroys a vital bridge and surrounds the joint force. A battle breaks out between the joint force and the extremists, leaving everyone in the joint force either dead or seriously injured. Imran Zakaev then arrives and begins killing wounded soldiers. Suddenly, the plane is shot down, and Imran Zakaev is killed. Ultimately, the missile incident and the extremist nationalists' support for Khaled al-Assad are covered up, leaving the rest for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
