Beatmania
is a rhythm video game developed and distributed by Japanese game developer Konami, first released in 1997. It significantly contributed to the music gaming boom in 1998, and the series expanded not only with its arcade sequels but also transitioned to home consoles and other handheld devices, achieving sales of over one million units. Konami's Beatmania line of music games is named after the series, first adopted in the arcade version of Beatmania 3rdMIX and continuing ever since. The series ended with the final game, Beatmania THE FINAL, released in 2002.
