The
Battle of Zama is a video game about one of the most important battles in history. Scipio of Rome met Hannibal's army on the battlefield of Carthage. Historically, the Romans won. However, if they had lost, the world would have been very different, as Carthage would have been the major influence in Europe and the Mediterranean instead of Rome.
The Battle of Zama is inspired by the older Avalon Hill and SPI games. It uses a square grid instead of a hexagonal map, as ancient army units rarely moved diagonally. Units can change direction, move, fire from a distance, and attack close range. Additionally, units that are part of a formation can move together to make movement faster.
One of the most exciting parts of this game is the Elephant Rage phase. Historically, when Hannibal attacked with his elephants, the Roman cavalry would blow large horns to terrorize the elephants, and many of them went berserk and attacked Hannibal's units themselves. At this stage, the AI is fully in control of the elephants, which randomly go into a rampage. They will attack in a random direction and then perform both ranged and melee attacks on any nearby units. The rampaging elephants' handlers will then kill the animals.Minimum
