An unconventional way to unlock new skills: Each character has all their own special abilities from the start. However, many of them are locked at a high energy cost. Increase your maximum energy by any means necessary to access those skills.
Manage your energy strategically in battles: use lots of low-cost skills in a row, or use a high-cost skill and wait for the total energy to recharge.
Two difficulty modes: Normal and Challenge. Normal is designed to allow most people to complete the game and watch the story. Challenge is for those seeking blood, sweat, sorrow, and death.
Turn-based battles and a variety of boss battles that require strategy to overcome, especially in Challenge mode.
A variety of weapons, armor, and accessories allow you to customize the equipment of playable characters to suit your playstyle. Minimum
