Creed
revolves primarily around the conflict between two ancient secret societies, the Assassins and the Knights Templar, and their indirect relationship with ancient races that predate humanity, which were destroyed along with their societies by a massive solar flare. The series begins in 2012 with the main protagonist, Desmond Miles, a bartender descended from the Assassin lineage. Despite being raised as an assassin, he ran away from his family for a while to live a normal life like his peers. However, his life was turned upside down when he was kidnapped by an organization called Abstergo Industries, the modern face of the Knights Templar, who knew of Desmond's true lineage. This organization forced Desmond to use the Animus, a device that allows him to access the memories of his ancestors. Abstergo seeks to discover the locations of several artifacts called the Pieces of Eden, which contain great powers that allow their holder to control humanity, control its fate, and unite humanity as a single, unified group. Desmond then meets a small team of Assassin descendants and agrees to work with them using the Animus II upgrade to continue exploring his ancestors' memories to find more Pieces of Eden and restore their powers before Abstergo finds them. As Desmond explores these memories, some of his ancestors' abilities are genetically inherited, a phenomenon known as the Bleeding Effect, granting him some Assassin skills.
