Information:
The first question that came to many minds when we announced it was, of course, “Why?” So let’s start with that. As you know, Anno 1800 was a huge success for the team, becoming the fastest-selling Anno game ever, attracting over a million players within its first nine months on the market. Many of these players first discovered the Anno series with 1800, and we’ve seen more and more questions about older games. Of course, it’s also possible that many of our international players have played Anno in the past and simply didn’t realize it! You see, the gaming industry was very different just a decade or two ago. In the case of Anno, the history in non-German-speaking markets was strange. The first four games that made up the collection had different publishers and distribution partners in different countries, which also led to them all having different names in different regions! It seems that the games you played in your youth like 1602 AD or Dawn of Discovery were Anno games! In fact, it wasn't until the series traveled into the future with Anno 2070 that the series name would be used globally. In that sense, the collection offers a good way to bring our entire community on the same page. You may also have noticed that the artwork for the historical versions of the games has new logos that are closer in style to Anno 1800, unifying the series' future marketing to ensure you'll instantly recognize anything Anno when you see it (don't worry—we chose the classic logos within the games for nostalgia's sake!).
