This suburban Tokyo neighborhood has seen it all, from Japan's post-war reconstruction to the bubble economy crash of the 1980s. Always on the cusp of progress, with something to offer even the most eccentric appetites, it was almost inevitable that this unique entertainment technocracy would give birth to an entirely new kind of appetite.
Enter, "Synthisters"—bloodsuckers who prey on the life energy of the city's unsuspecting character stalkers, maid café aficionados, and masqueraders. Affected by Synthisters, they take on the characteristics of their attackers while also withdrawing from society and becoming completely isolated due to their newfound fatal weakness to sunlight.
AKIBA'S TRIP tells the story of one such unfortunate soul: a young man named Nanashi was lured into a trap by the promise of rare character merchandise and transformed into one of the wandering undead. However, he was saved from his worst fate by a bloody kiss from a mysterious Synthister hunter named Shizuku. Together with their comrades in an organization unofficially called "Akiba's Freedom Fighters," Nanashi and Shizuku must uncover the truth about the Synthister epidemic and save Akiba from an invasion by violent, socially isolated energy vampires.
Of course, the best way to fight the vampires is to strip them until they melt under the midday sun...Minimum
