Information
: World Championship Wrestling, Inc. (WCW) was an American professional wrestling promotion that existed from 1988 to 2001. WCW Backstage Assault is a professional wrestling video game produced by Electronic Arts. It was the last World Championship Wrestling (WCW) game released before the company was purchased by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). WCW Backstage Assault takes over 50 WCW wrestlers out of the ring and into real-world settings like a locker room, a garage, and a loading dock. Traditional wrestling moves can be used, but weapons like 2x4s and trash cans are also introduced into the mix. By working through the various game modes, you can unlock additional wrestlers, territories, and weapons. Bobby Heenan and Tony Schiavone provide commentary with over 8,000 lines of dialogue. Gameplay: Backstage Assault differs significantly from other games of its kind. Any wrestling game before it that had backstage areas (like the SmackDown! series or its predecessor, WCW Mayhem) treated them as additional fighting locations. Backstage Assault took the concept further by removing the ring entirely and making all the action happen backstage. Tough Challenge is the core mode of Backstage Assault. It consists of winning matches against random opponents until challenged by the champion. Throughout the game, players can unlock wrestlers, rings, and moves for use in Create-a-Superstar. The player cannot defend the championship once it is earned. Features: Choose from over 50 WCW Superstars in a variety of match types. Fight in a total of 14 backstage areas, including the semi-trailer area. Use boosters, weapons, and the environment to defeat your opponents. Manufacturer's Description: No Limits – Fight Without Limits! 14 playable backstage areas, including the new semi-trailer area! Destroy your enemy faster with boosters! Use your environment as a weapon! NEW! First Blood and Torch Matches! Over 50 WCW Superstars, including WCW Women. FEATURES: Third-person perspective. 3D graphics. Cartoon wrestling theme.
