Information:
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournaments began in the 1990s, giving the world's martial artists the opportunity to excel in a fighting environment with very few rules. Fighters could face off against fighters of any style, and a match ended only when one fighter submitted. The sport's popularity led to the creation of other mixed martial arts (MMA) tournaments, and fighting styles evolved and combined for greater effectiveness. The UFC is a 3D fighting game that attempts to simulate the real MMA fighting experience. Players can choose from a roster of well-known UFC fighters or create their own fighter through Career Mode. During Career Mode, players begin the character creation process by selecting from several style templates, then use points earned by fighting and defeating a series of progressively more difficult fighters to purchase attribute upgrades in stamina, endurance, and striking ability, or to learn specific techniques. In addition to Career Mode, the game offers several game modes: a single-match exhibition mode, UFC Championship Mode, Champion Mode, and a training mode. Fighters created through Career Mode can also be used in any of these modes. During a match, fighters can roam freely within the confines of an octagonal fighting area. Like traditional fighting titles, each fighter has a health bar, but matches can be won through knockouts or by successfully applying standing or ground submission techniques. Striking and grappling techniques are allowed in the game, and fights that begin standing can move to the ground when one fighter successfully lands a takedown or block. While on the ground, fighters can assume several positions common to mixed martial arts fights, including the top position, the guard, and the back position.
