Switchball
is an innovative and fun puzzle game based on real-world interactions. The beautiful and stylish 3D graphics offer panoramic views of 30 stunning levels across five stunning worlds.
The game puts the player in the role of a marble, guided through a narrow, winding track suspended in the air in five different worlds:
Sky World, Ice World, Cafe World, Cloud World, and Lava World.
The ball can be transformed into different balls with unique physics properties, such as the Marble Ball, the Power Ball (which can be charged and has an accelerating "dash," the "jump" ability, or switchable "magnetic" properties), the Steel Ball (which can push heavy objects around), and so on. Each track contains obstacles and traps, such as wooden blocks, cloth sheets, spinning propellers, magnets, and cannons. The game also uses physics-based puzzles, such as moving boxes. Additionally, different balls interact with the environment in different ways; steel balls, for example, will tear through cloth platforms.
Each level is timed, and players are rewarded with gold, silver, and bronze medals, depending on how quickly they complete the level.
Switchball has received numerous awards over the years and has now been relaunched on Steam as Switchball HD. Originally known as Crazy Ball, the game won "Best PC Game" at the 2005 Swedish Game Awards and was a finalist in the "Technical Excellence" category at the 2006 Independent Games Festival. Switchball also won the Team Xbox XBLA Game of the Year award in 2007.
