Long ago, a tyrannical ruler named Emperor Barbarossa ruled a peaceful land with an iron fist. Tired of his tyranny and oppression, a woman named Odessa Silverberg rose up in revolt to put an end to Barbarossa's evil rule. Theo McDohl, the son of one of Barbarossa's generals, joined Odessa and took command of the Liberation Army. Together, they gathered recruits to form the 108 Stars of Destiny and overthrew Barbarossa. They forged a land of unity and peace, and at that time, all was quiet. This was the backdrop for Konami's sleeper hit, Sukuden. Now, three years after Barbarossa's fall, a new war threatens the peaceful land. The Highland Empire, ruled by the Blight family, has provoked war with the peaceful city-state of Juston. After much fighting, a peace agreement is finally forged between the two sides. The main character and his childhood friend, Joey, are soldiers in the war and have been sent to oversee the treaty talks. Overwhelmed by talk of the war's end, all the two can think about is finally returning to their hometown, Kyaro. But something goes wrong, and the two are thrown away, marked for betrayal of their homeland. Betrayed by betrayal, power, greed, and everything that comes with war, the two must struggle with their destined path. You must once again collect the 108 Stars of Destiny and put an end to the war. Thus begins the epic saga that is Sukuden II, the next installment in Konami's groundbreaking Sukuden series. New features in the game not found in the original include: new turn-based tactical battles that offer complete control, improved graphics and new special effects on spells and animations, 108 characters to aid you in your quest, each with a different ability and purpose, the option to use Sukuden data from the first game to unlock hidden stories, and an improved and unique "Castle Building" system exclusive to Sukuden. Characters: The protagonist of Sokuden II (whose name is determined by the player at the start of the game) goes from being a member of the Highland Kingdom's youth brigade to being the leader of its opposition, the New Alliance Army. By obtaining one half of the Inception Rune, he is destined to become the leader of the newly rebuilt Juston army and also to oppose the bearer of the other half of the Inception Rune, Joy Atreides. The antagonist for most of the game is Lucca Blight, the heir to the Highland throne. Lucca is a bloodthirsty madman who developed a strong hatred for Juston at a young age after witnessing his mother's rape by thugs hired by the city-state capital, Mews, to attack the Highland royal envoy. A variety of characters from the original Sokuden appear in Sokuden II. Some, like Victor, play major roles in the story, while others only appear in brief scenes (such as Kaji, who is briefly seen talking to Joy before Mayor Annabelle is killed). If the player has completed save data from the original Sokuden on their memory card, the protagonist of the previous game can be recruited, and Gremio will briefly appear (if the saved game does not contain all 108 recruited characters, Gremio will not appear). The roster of recurring characters in Sokuden contains a comprehensive list of all characters spanning multiple installments in the series. Manufacturer's Description: Experience an epic tale of war, magic, friendship, and betrayal. New tactical map battles add a whole new level of strategy. Spectacular spells with stunning animation sequences and specialized attacks.Over 108 different characters can join your party and help you on your quest. Unlock hidden stories using your memory card data from the original Sokuden. Build your castle over the course of the game to become a thriving virtual community.
