Stirring Abyss is a squad-based tactical indie game with strong RPG elements as you uncover the ancient secrets of the deep, depicted in the classic style of Lovecraftian horror. You
command the surviving crew of the USS Salem, a US Navy submarine that sank during a secret research mission during the early years of the Cold War. They find themselves surrounded by the ruins of a forgotten civilization, their ship too badly damaged to escape from the seabed.
In Story Mode, you slowly unravel the secrets of the deep in a desperate quest to rescue your missing crewmates and repair the crippled Salem. The choices you make determine the fate of your crew—and the entire world.
Each voyage lives or dies by the strength of its crew. You have a variety of character traits and skills at your disposal, each of which unlocks exciting new options in combat and storylines. As you sink deeper, your crew may also undergo powerful but horrific transformations; the price of survival is high, and no one escapes the abyss unchanged.
The horror and emptiness that lurk in the deep waters may become too much to bear, and your crew may succumb to states of exhaustion and madness. Will their souls become stronger, or will they be damaged forever? A dice game with fate itself will determine the outcome.
Recovered resources can be converted into weapons, armor, or other useful supplies—or they can be used to repair and upgrade Salem, giving your crew a decisive edge in the fight for survival. The further you explore the Abyss during quests, the greater your chances of finding the lost treasures of the deep.
The eerily beautiful environment holds many secrets and mysteries to explore, but danger lurks beyond the tenuous circles of light you carry with you. Be wise, use your skills to spy the black waters and light the way: hidden horrors may be lurking just beyond view.
Endgame mode pits your crew in a roguelike battle against an army of endless enemies that grow stronger as you progress. It's the ultimate test of strategic ability, where you not only choose how to improve your own squad, but also choose your poisons relative to what your enemies acquire.Minimum
