information
The second installment in RayStorm, RayCrisis: Series Termination, takes place at a time when humanity's future teeters on the brink. Determined to create the ultimate neural interface between man and machine, a renegade scientist named Leslie McGuire cloned herself and connected the clone's mind directly to the powerful global computer network, Con-Human. Con-Human's AI soon took over the clone's consciousness and drove her insane. Unable to comprehend the complexities of human consciousness and the human psyche, the Network began a murderous campaign that wiped out most of Earth's 13 billion population. The survivors of this bleak future fled to a series of underground cities designed to serve as a haven in the event of an asteroid strike. Many of these hardy souls escaped the Network and the planet itself via spaceships, while others chose to remain behind to disable the Network. The attack (known as Operation Meteor) on the Network failed disastrously. However, there is one last hope for Earth's future: you and your flying skills. You are at the helm of one of three experimental Wave Rider fighters, each equipped with the WR-01 primary weapon set, a WR-02 secondary laser system, and a WR-03 single-use weapon for emergencies. Guided missiles help you aim (pointer) and fire at enemies at a different altitude from your ship. Other weapons include broadsides, lasers, homing lasers, thunder lasers, and photon torpedoes. Special weapons can only be used when fully charged. As with most shooters of this type, your objective is to evade, juggle, and blast your way through wave after wave of spaceships. After destroying an item carrier, you can pick up one of several power-ups that increase your firing power, increase your maximum target count, reduce wear, give you an additional ship, or double your current score. Two game modes are available: Original, which lets you choose three of five levels, and Special, which takes you through seven levels using a fully charged ship. RayCrisis: Series Termination is compatible with analog controls and vibration functionality. It also supports the PocketStation, a special memory card with an LCD screen and simple control buttons. Released only in Japan, the PocketStation allows you to download certain games from your PlayStation and play them on the go. “Pocket-Ray” Minigame (Home Edition Only): If you have a PocketStation, you can play the “Pocket-Ray” minigame. Using lock-on attacks, you must prevent enemies from escaping the screen. To download the minigame to your PocketStation, place it in memory card slot 1. It takes 14 blocks to install. Move the targeting cursor using the directional keys and press Enter to fire the aiming laser. If too many enemies escape, the game ends. RayCrisis: Series Termination differs from the original 1998 arcade version, simply titled RayCrisis, in that it features an additional game mode that allows you to complete all levels with your ship fully charged. The home game also features several options, such as five difficulty levels, a flash effect, controller vibration, and the number of ships. Manufacturer's Description: An ambitious and amoral scientist, a secret experiment gone terribly wrong, and an artificially intelligent supercomputer gone mad; all the ingredients necessary for humanity's imminent extinction. You are humanity's last hope, a skilled pilot tasked with the unwelcome mission of piloting an experimental fighter into the dark heart of the Con-Human Network. Take control of three Wave Rider spaceships, each equipped with the WR-01 primary weapon set, the WR-02 secondary laser system, and the WR-03 single-use weapon for emergencies. RayCrisis: Series Termination is the final entry in Taito's acclaimed trilogy of shooters, bombarding your screen with fourth-generation visual simulation technology: multi-level scrolling, transparency and lighting effects, and enough polygons to overload your cerebral cortex. Manipulate, dodge, and blast through two game modes, smashing through wave after wave of relentless enemies to achieve high scores and unlock hidden rewards. Ready your senses, sharpen your nerves, and flex your trigger finger—the final onslaught has begun! Features: Third-person perspective. 3D graphics. Cartoon graphics. Sci-fi and futuristic themes.
