Rampage
is a series of video games released by Midway for various consoles. The basic premise of the series is that the player controls a human who has been transformed into a giant monster due to a laboratory accident. Gameplay revolves around using your monster to destroy cities around the world while attacking or evading military forces. Rampage is an arcade game released in 1986 by Bally Midway. Players control giant monsters trying to survive against attacks from military forces. Each round is completed when a given city is completely destroyed. Rampage Through Time is the fourth game in the Rampage series. It was released on June 9, 2000. Its predecessor was Rampage 2: World Tour and its sequel was Rampage: Total Destruction. In the game, seven previous Scamlab monsters, plus a new one, use a time machine to rush through time. The world is rebuilding after the events of World Tour. To clean up the mess faster, Scamlab invents a time machine to send people back in time to fix it without having to do it in the present. Unfortunately, monsters, having somehow managed to return to Earth, appear and enter the machine. They begin to terrorize the past, present, and future, wreaking havoc on the time stream. In Campaign mode, each time zone consists of four stages. The first three consist of traditional Rampage gameplay, where you must destroy all buildings in each city while avoiding attacks from enemy forces. Campaign mode is only playable with a single player, but the CPU will randomly select two more monsters to face you in that time zone. After each city is destroyed, all three monsters are awarded stars for inflicting the most damage to buildings, people, and each other. The fourth stage is a multiplayer minigame that varies with each time zone, usually as a mockery of games like Asteroids or Breakout. In Campaign mode, the player must win these minigames in order to continue into the main game. Stars earned in Rampage stages also translate to bonus points for the minigames, making it important to earn as many as possible to increase your chances of winning.
