Objects in Space is a 2D open-world space trading game based on stealth and covert action, set in Apollo – a massive cluster of star systems dozens of light-years from Earth. You are the captain of a ship, buying and selling goods to maintain your ship and steer clear of pirates, organized crime, corrupt governments, and mysterious laws. A cast of characters awaits you in Objects in Space. The game focuses on a series of short stories rather than a single main story with a hero's journey, so it's up to you how much narrative you want in your game.
Combat in Objects sees ships treated as Cold War submarines rather than World War II fighters. You'll be operating silently, planning moves far in time and engaging in deadly games with mysterious enemies, but only for players who seek it out. Players who avoid combat can pay attention to the news, avoid heavy pirate systems, and choose not to explore uncharted areas of space where larger numbers of pirates lurk.
You'll have to keep your ship's systems running as silently as possible, going completely "dark" if you must, simply floating with your current course and speed in the hopes of avoiding showing up on others' scanners while traversing some of the most dangerous shipping lanes in space.
To earn money, there are over fifty employers, and your reputation with each one will determine how many passenger, cargo, or bounty-hunting contracts are available to you. But be warned—failing to complete a contract could see your reputation plummet with that employer. So when you receive a distress signal from a nearby ship but have a deadline to meet, what do you do?
Your ship is fully customizable down to the smallest part of each unit. If your battery dies, it's your own fault. You decided to go with a cheap Ventari battery in the first place, and you were stubborn enough to buy a Connect Hub Node model when the technician recommended a Xiao Sa model. Stupid.
You can play it safe in the mainframe systems or design your ship with the ability to outmaneuver, fight, or hide from your opponents and make your fortune in the Outer Rims. But be warned! You're as easily preyed as you are hungry as a deep-space predator... Minimum
