However, he was cautious enough to avoid publicly standing against any legal government. Play as a renowned mercenary through five large and diverse chapters (a whopping 14 levels in total): Iran's hidden nuclear processing plant, the Moscow trade hub where trouble begins, a hit-and-run mission in the city's aquarium, a shootout at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, and the search for a terrorist cave in Iraq to find a missing VIP.
The game reflects John's experience as a sniper. At the start of each chapter, he is given two sniper rifles—the silent Arctic Warfare as his primary weapon, plus a specialized rifle that best suits the chapter, chosen from a variety of options. Additional rifles range from the very fast Saiga semi-automatic rifle with a sniper scope to the heavy and deadly Barrett .50.
The game simulates bullet ballistics based on gravity, wind, and initial bullet velocity for a more realistic experience.
Using a silencer on the Arctic Warfare rifle or on John's personally modified P99 pistol can sometimes prove useful, as enemies rely entirely on their eyes and ears—they can't hunt down what they can't see or hear.
It's possible, of course, to play the game as a standard "shooter" using automatic rifles and pistols taken from dead enemies—however, using sniper tactics at longer distances is easier.
Advanced AI allows enemies to fight in groups, using various weapons and explosive devices, alerting and supporting each other, and utilizing terrain and objects in their tactics.
The game is powered by advanced technology and a graphics engine that produces beautiful visuals, filled with light, beautiful atmospheric effects, real-time water, reflections, shadows, and various realistic surface textures, complemented by dynamic environments with animated plant life, insects, and birds.
