Relax and calm yourself in less than five minutes as you explore the wonders of a vibrant shimmering forest with LUMEN, a non-linear self-meditation rooted at the intersection of virtual reality and well-being.
This virtual experience begins with a short breathing exercise, then places you in a shimmering multi-colored forest where you will use your gaze to interact with the sights and sounds of your environment—relieving stress in the process. You will stimulate tree growth, choose a color from the stunning aurora display in the sky to customize your tranquil setting, and navigate the splendor of a dense forest floor—bringing colorful life to the dark and rarefied landscape. The soothing soundtrack, created by composer Susumu Yokota, evolves with each interaction.
LUMEN was created in collaboration with Walter Greenleaf, Ph.D., of Stanford University's Virtual Human Interaction Lab and Framestore's virtual reality studio. Dr. Greenleaf and other Stanford research scientists at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital will evaluate how LUMEN can help children undergoing challenging surgical procedures. The experience is just the tip of the interactive iceberg when it comes to the power of harnessing virtual reality to improve your life.
To exit LUMEN, look down until a panel of three buttons appears, then select X by directing your gaze toward it. Minimum
