Shelley "Bombshell" Harrison has earned her title as a bomb disposal expert for the Global Defense Forces. When mutant cult leader Dr. Jadus Heskill unleashes a cybernetic army on New DC, Shelley decides it's time to throw bombs instead of defusing them.
Her journey will leave a trail of blood and flesh in huge multi-path levels filled with those famous colored cards and tons of secrets and surprise eggs to discover behind every corner. There's no health regeneration, so stop hiding and start running and shooting. Honestly, Ion Fury should probably come out on 300 floppy disks.
Shelley's journey to take down Dr. Heskill's army will see her use a range of weapons, all with alternate firing modes or different ammo types. Her signature gun, the Loverboy, brings pain to enemies and fun to players with single shots, or Shelley can go all-out West-style. Guns are fun, but throwing grenades into their stacks and shooting explosive ammo is much better. Bowling bombs are as violent and exciting as one could hope for.
Ion Fury laughs off the idea of constant checkpoints and straight paths through shooting galleries. But just because this is a true old-school first-person shooter doesn't mean it won't have all the good new things the past two decades have brought. Headshots? Yep, sure. More physics and interactivity? Sure. Widescreen, controller support, and auto-save? 3D Realms and Voidpoint have taken the best of both worlds and cooked them all up in a bloody pot. Minimum
