Information:
It is the dawn of the sixth millennium, and the skies are darkening, as the sun itself is fading. Humans reached for the stars long ago, building a high-tech republic and global liberation—then squandered them, fought over them, and finally lost them.
A new age of darkness has descended upon humanity, as the greatest civilizations have fallen, and now even the stars are dying. Feudal lords rule the Known Worlds, vying for power with fanatical priests and scheming Ages.
A 4X grand strategy game developed by Holistic Design Inc., Emperor of the Vanishing Sun is set in the Dark Ages of space. It lets players assume the role of a powerful nobleman vying to become Emperor of the Known Worlds. Similar to strategy classics like Civilization and Masters of Orion, Emperor of the Vanishing Sun offers a sophisticated diplomacy engine, space and land battles, the discovery of new planets, competitive (online) multiplayer, and more. Despite being rushed to market, it achieved a cult following that spawned numerous unofficial fan-made mods.
In 4550 AD, Vladimir I, the first Emperor of the Known Worlds, crowned himself with his own hands and the blessing of Sacred Terra. He was dead within moments. The Regency was vacant, and all of humanity was preparing to elect a new Regent. But times are changing.
The mysterious disappearance of all suns in the Known Worlds is accelerating, causing increasing difficulties and a general sense of anxiety. The vanishing sun is said to be a harbinger of the coming of Judgment Day.
Each of the Royal Houses can trace its lineage back to the reign of Great Emperor Vladimir, who united the fragments of the Second Republic into a single, powerful Empire. As mandated in the Grand Charter, in the event of the Emperor's death, human space was to be ruled by a temporary Regent. However, no Regent was able to achieve enough power to declare themselves Emperor. Meanwhile, the Regency has become a means of plundering the Empire.
Many feel that humanity needs strong, loyal leadership to face the uncertain future—a leader who holds no personal stake in the fate of the Empire. But the Regent was merely a symbol, capable at most of spurring conflicts among humans. The only solution for humanity is to make the position of Regent hereditary, reverting to its ancient name—Emperor. Then the future of the entire Empire will be the Emperor's primary concern, rather than just the interests of his own House.
Can you lead your noble House—whether the impersonal Hawkwood, the licentious Decadus, the scheming Landlord, the devout Li Halan, or the warrior Hazat—to ultimate victory? Will you restore humanity to its former glory? Will you dare to become the Emperor of the Vanishing Sun?Minimum
