Information:
Braid was developed by Number None and published by Number None. It was released on April 10, 2009.
Braid is a puzzle-platformer, illustrated in an art style, where you can manipulate the flow of time in strange and unusual ways. From a house in the city, embark on a journey to a series of worlds and solve puzzles to rescue a kidnapped princess. In each world, you have a different power that affects the behavior of time, and it is the strangeness of time that creates the puzzles. Time behaviors include: the ability to undo, objects that are unaffected by undoing, time linked to space, parallel reality, time dilation, and possibly more.
Braid considers your time and attention valuable; there is no redundant content in this game. Each puzzle shows you something new and exciting about the game world.
Key Features:
Newly added Steam Cloud Support:
Save your ongoing game to the cloud, then pick up where you left off on any Steam-connected computer.
Forgiving but challenging gameplay:
Braid is a 2D platformer where you can never die or lose. Despite this, Braid is challenging—but the challenge is about solving puzzles, rather than forcing you to replay difficult jumps.
Rich puzzle environment:
Travel through a series of worlds in search of puzzle pieces, then solve puzzles by manipulating time: backtracking, creating parallel worlds, setting up pockets of expanding time. The gameplay feels fresh and new; the puzzles are meant to inspire new ways of thinking.
Aesthetic design:
A painterly art style and a rich, organic soundtrack complement the unique gameplay.
Non-linear story:
A non-linear story connects the different worlds and provides real-world metaphors for your temporal manipulations; in turn, your temporal manipulations are projections of real-life themes into "what if" game worlds where the consequences can be explored.
Non-linear gameplay:
The game doesn't force you to solve puzzles to progress. If you can't figure something out, just keep playing and come back to that puzzle later.
